I dont have a guitar shop near me so I have to order my gear online, limited to youtube and reviews. What are you impressions of the Blackstar metal series amps? Would a boost go good in front of it for solos?

The only blackstar product I've ever been impressed by is the Series One. Everything else I've been able to try by them (which admittedly doesn't include the metal series) has been mediocre
Gibson SG Standard
Gibson Les Paul Traditional
Cort Explorer
Squire Standard Strat rebuilt with Fender USA parts
Squire Tele
Krank 1980
Orange Tiny Terror
Traynor YCV 50 Blue
Peavey Vypyr 75

I'm in the market for a high gain amp for metal, for bedroom use....what would you get?

For bedroom use get something with a clean channel you like and buy a nice pedal to use for distortion.

And I've not been that impressed by the Series One I tried (the 1046L6), and I even tried the HT Metal 60 and found it pretty "meh".

This is a good idea.

Also, look into Peavey (5150, 6505+, 6534+, JSX, XXX,...), Mesa/Boogie (Rectifiers, Marks,...), Laney (Ironheart, VH, TI, GH), ENGL, Diezel... All those are great for metal.

+1 i just looked at your posting threads, and nearly half of them are you starting threads. a little excessive. i read through them. not a good ratio. if you are trying to learn i understand, but so many threads isn't the best way.

i wouldn't bother with a blackstar. i have tried some, i honestly don't remember if i played one of the metal models, but even the series 1, it sounded better, but for the price you can get something so much better.

you still have't mentioned budget. i posted it. in that case i would recommend a diezel vh4, a klon and a strymon mobius, would get you started out great.

where are you located?
what is your budget?
