That's why it's called The Pit. No one gets out of these dark reaches.

Mikael Akerfeldt wanking to 70s prog

oh no that was the last few albums sorry

He should be sorry for putting out "Heritage" -- he pissed on all the things that made Opeth great and diferentiated them from your run-of-the-mill prog-influenced bands. "Heritage" almost sounds like a Riverside album, but Riverside does that kind of prog better.

Sadly, it seems that "Pale Communion" is going to follow the same path.

real questions for opeth fans:

how can you possibly like opeth
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

Forreal Opeth is one of those bands that I try my goddamn best to get into but it never works

Plus the 70's prog wankery (deadsmileyface; 2014) is kinda off putting to me

That's the problem. Don't try. Just wait. When you're ready, Opeth will come to you.

I will admit, it's getting harder to do. Heritage isn't good, pale communion probably won't be good, and im glad I skipped out on their lexington show because I heard the only worthwhile song they played was Demon of the Fall.

However, I will never stop listening to Damnation or Blackwater Park.

I love I Feel the Dark, and a couple other songs are alright, but as a whole album it's just weak. Find myself not caring if i ever hear it again.
