I got an Epiphone G400 recently that has a Super Distortion in the bridge, which I really like. I've hardly used the neck pickup, I like the warmth and thickness it's aiming at but it doesn't cut it. So I'm looking for something to replace it with. The obvious answer is the '57 Classic, but is there anything else I should look at? I'm using the guitar for doom metal and classic rock/psychedelic rock.

So what specific tonal change are you looking for? Even thicker/warm? If so, I'd say Air Norton.
Charvel So-Cal (SH6TB/N, killswitch), Jackson RR5FR (TB6/Jazz, Drop C). Joyo pxl pro.
Loop1=Crybaby from hell, Boss PS-5, Seymour Duncan 805 or Green Rhino, EQD Hoof or Earthbound Audio Super Collider. Loop 1 into ISP Decimator II.
Loop 2 (FX loop)-Line6 M9, TC Spark Mini. Loop 2 into mxr 10band. All into a Peavey Triple XXX 212, Ibanez IL15.

what amp do you have?

things i'd check for stoner / doom / sludge:
bare knuckles warpigs (alnico)
P90s
tony iommi signature pickups

Cheers! Yeah just something warmer and thicker, less muddy.

Got a little Vox DA4, just playing at bedroom levels and using it with pedals (Big Muff & Rat for heaviness).
