Looking at trying one of these to place on my drag around
board. What's your thoughts? I'll be boosting and using the
gain at times too. Genres I play hardrock/metal.

kind of hard to say if you're both boosting and using the pedal's dirt. the tubescreamer clone (vintage overdrive) is probably the safest one since so many people use a tubescreamer. but you could maybe make a case for the ultimate drive, too. i don't think the sweet honey has enough dirt for what you want.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

The ultimate drive has more gain on tap as a stand alone pedal.

Expect to have to rebuild it. We've seen some pretty shoddily built Joyos. I had a flanger where a trimpot wasn't even pushed through the holes in the board and Tim has seen a few horror stories too. They're built by dyslexic monkeys on meth.

I'd rather a Bad Monkey if I was trying to be cheap - otherwise, get Tim or Matt to build you a Timmy.

Do you have a Timmy? I love the Timmy in front of my RM.

I wouldn't trust a Joyo as far as I could spit a large rat. I might buy another because they are so cheap but I'd treat it as an incomplete kit. I'd immediately go over it with a magnifying glass and repair any of their **** ups.

probably, but if you're going to use it as a boost, in my opinion the vintage overdrive is better for that.

i agree with cath regarding trying a bad monkey, too. though if you're planning to mess about with it, I think it's SMD so the joyos might be easier to mod, I think they're mostly full-sized components (most of the older joyo pedals anyway, the newer ones are SMD i think).
