Is this the right subforum for this? I was on the fence about posting this here or The Pit, but I guess I wanted serious answers so I came here instead. I saw this game once on a forum for luxury watches and thought the idea might be fun to apply to guitars and guitar-related items. Anyway...

You've come across the Guitar Genie who will grant you some guitar gear wishes. He'll give you up to five pieces of gear for a grand total of $15,000, or the equivalent in your currency, I guess just round up to the next number divisible by 100. Or maybe your currency is close enough to USD. Whatever.

Additional Rules

It can be any type of gear (guitar, amplifier, pedal, misc. such as wireless system, vintage or modern, discontinued models). It can even be something that doesn't exist, but within reasonable constraints (e.g. different finish, different pickup configuration, add a tremolo rod, etc. It can't be, for example a Gibson Les Paul that comes with every effect you can think of and can be manipulated with your mind). All prices must be the price of the item as advertised as new. Each customization to create an item that doesn't exist will decrease your allotted total by $500.

I'll demonstrate.

(1) PRS S2 Mira with Bird Inlays - $1,300
(1) Gibson ES-335 Semi-Hollow - $3,000
(1) Two-Rock Crystal 100 Head - $4,200
(1) Fender John Mayer Signature Stratocaster - $1,600
(1) Martin 000-28EC (Eric Clapton Signature) - $3,700

Total: $13,800

I just barely made it, I actually increased the allotted total in the rules. At first, it was $10,000, but I realised that I wanted even more from this fictional entity that was giving me free things. I'm insatiable.

Have fun.

Ah, does this exist already? I tried the search function, nothing similar turned up. I guess if it's been ages, there's no harm in making a new thread.

They've taken different forms like "pick one guitar and one amp" but yeah, they used to be a pretty popular game.

i was guessing you were from the southeast. it'll blow you mind how much cigs cost across the country, or in other countries. you enjoy some of the lower prices in the US. it can range from about 5 bucks up to about 15.

i almost shit myself when i went up to connecticut:

Me: "but i only want 1 pack"
Them: "that is one pack"

I'd like to buy a few guitars made by private luthiers, so I have no idea of the price. Let's say 3000e each, so that's 6000e.

Probably a Kemper Profiling amp and the stuff that you need to run it. Let's say 2500e.

Laney VH100R - about 1500e.

And a nice hollowbody with the rest. (I converted 15000$ to 11000 euros). Something like a Godin Fifth Avenue maybe.

I mean he could smuggle a blackheart BH1, but it's unlikely that he'll successfully smuggle $15000 worth of gear.

This came up recently in another forum, maybe UMGF.

Here's mine:

1) A nice nylon string fusion style guitar. Not sure what, but about $4000

2) A (Dana) Bourgeois Blues. This is a ladder braced all-mahogany dread intended specifically for slide. Maybe $4000, not sure as it is now special order.

3) Collings CJ35 for fingerpicking $4800

4) Mesa Transatlantic and cab to go with my collection of electrics.

This assumes I could keep what I have, but even if I couldn't the three acoustics would fill my acoustic desires very well, though it would be a toss-up between the BB and the one I already have.

Since we're stretching the rules, pedals count for 0.25 of a piece of gear. Also, I've changed my mind about the JM Strat today. The more I tried it, the more I realized it doesn't do anything my USA Standard Strat can't do with the mids greatly decreased with my EQ pedal. I guess it's because I'm comparing it with my current setup with my amp vs. what amp I used at the store.

I don't know with what I want it to change it. Since this isn't a real genie, I'll look for something else.

Yeah I was actually thinking of that as I was posting

As spambot says you'd have to declare it on the way back. Might still be worth doing, though, but at that point it'd be cheaper and handier to find a retailer in the USA who'd ship it to you...
