All I've seen who makes this pickup is Gibson and the creamery. I'm looking for other companies that make this pickup and leave a comment if you got a favorite.

It's just a style of pickup (PAF-style). Virtually every pickup manufacturer in existence makes a PAF-type pickup. It just depends on what they decide to call the thing.
I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Exactly -- '57s are just a designation (like "Nailbomb") originating at Gibson.
Worth noting that even Gibson is all over the place on these pickups (2-wire, 4-wire, potted, non-potted). I have one that has 9.2 K ohm resistance (most are much lower) that was hand-selected from a pile of them by a good tech.

There *is* no "best".
