Hi everyone!

Im just looking for some help on what to buy for my next guitar, being a teenager im on a budget of £500. I need a guitar mostly for Hard Rock and Metal, and have been hearing good things about Schecter. Ive been thinking about the Schecter Damien Elite 6 (not sure about FR) and the new Shecter Stealth. It will be running through a Zakk Wylde Crybaby and a Roland Cube 40xl for now.

Please feel free to make any suggestions

In my opinion I wouldn't get a schecter because I just don't like their designs. They have a habit of putting fugly abalone and naff inlays all over everything, which makes the guitars look like they're marketed primarily for kids. Putting that aside, their guitars are OK. Nothing too exciting and nothing that nobody else doesn't already do.

I'm not going to recommend anything though because you're not being specific enough as to what kind of guitar you want. It's all well saying you like to play metal, but there are hundreds of different guitars oriented for that market.

And well yes, I'll enjoy the carpal tunnel and tendonitis, because trying to get one is clearly smarter than any word you have spoken thus far.

Sorry i wasnt specific enough, still kinda new to the guitar world, i only own a Fender Strat and an Epiphone SG, i want something mainly for heavy and nu metal i guess, im talking from metallica to evanescence, that sorta thing. Im not bothere what it sounds like clean, i have my strat for that, in fairly sure i want emg 81 and 85's but im definately no expert on pickups! It will most likely spend a lot of time in drop d, i want something that will last a long time that sounds great distorted, and i can solo on.

This is ground that's been covered with, on average, three or four threads *per day* here. Might want to take a look around.

Here are a few options I found in Fernandes' UK webstore:

http://www.fernandesguitarshop.co.uk/product/ravelle-deluxe-tremolo/
http://www.fernandesguitarshop.co.uk/product/vertigo-deluxe/
http://www.fernandesguitarshop.co.uk/product/revolver-deluxe/

There are other guitars there that don't have the EMGs, but would also handle metal quite nicely- Fernandes caters to the guitarists in harder genres.
Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Sturgeon's Revelation: “Ninety percent of everything is crap.”

Why, yes, I am a lawyer- thanks for asking!

Log off and play yer guitar!

Strap on, tune up, rock out!

With the Fender strat and Epiphone SG you have should be able to get the sound you want.

With the £500 budget, I'd recommend upgrading the amp first as that will make a bigger change to your sound than a new guitar.

Pop some Bareknuckle Nailbombs in your SG. That'll do the trick and be way less than £500.

Sam from Hang The Bastard used that on their latest album. He uses a Rockerverb these days, but not sure what amp they recorded with. I've got the same pickups in my Strat. Not as metal, but still sounds great.

Oh, but if you want EMGs... Well I know nothing about those. And just re-reading what you wanted, I suppose the Bare Knuckles aren't exactly what you're after for the nu-metal sound.

I know nothing about amps, i just bought a solid state amp i heard had great reviews and a variety of tones. My SG works okay for metal, but the quality just isnt that great, its extremely neck heavy and just lacks in quality compared to my Fender. But i have a Strat with 3 single coils, so metal on it kinda sucks.

Would you say a Roland Cube 40xl is a decent amp as far as first amps go? Thanks for your time.

Again, I dont like the quality and feel of my SG, too neck heavy and just doesnt feel that nice to play, I only paid £150 for it, cant really complain!
