Sup GG&A,

I'm looking into getting a new EL34 head to rock some pop-punk, lighter post-hardcore type stuff. I have a 5150 2x12 now and I like the tone but it's just not what I'm looking for anymore. I want something with a decent clean channel and something when overdriven, still retains clarity of chords. I just really don't know too much about EL34 amps, I've always had a 6L6 amp.

I can go new or used but preferably new.
Live in Ontario, Canada
Budget $1000-1200 (CDN)
100-120 watts (tube obviously) would be ideal.

Just looking for some advice as to where to start looking. I'm assuming Marshall, Orange but I honestly just don't know which models to avoid/focus on.

EDIT: I should mention I'll be playing a Gibson LPJ in Drop C into an OD808 and a delay.

Thanks guys,

Steve

Im thinking used Marshall JCM 2000 DSL.

Good cleans and gain channel

EDIT: With Marshall just stay away from most of the hybrids and solid states. There are a handful of decent ones but not many.

How about Ashdown Fallen Angel used?Traynor should also be easily available so try those, they're kind of a jcm800 clone.

Yep, that'll do it alright! About as loud as a nuclear bomb too if you need it to be.

I picked mine up for £325 too. Even came with a flightcase

Thanks for the replies, I'll definitely check out the JCM 2000 DSL. Anything else around my price range that I should demo if I get the chance? 3 Channels would be nice, but I'm sure 2 would do it as well. Not to familiar with Marshall, I've always owned Peavey/Mesa!

I was originally thinking that a Traynor YVC50B would be great for you but it is combo only I believe. Traynors are made in Canada and are a hell of a value. They don't make a lot of guitar heads but here are a few to consider.
