Imo its great when done by people like Bill Gates, a philanthropist, but its stupid when rich kids do it to look like one... Still I dont mind getting some cash (or publicity) for good from people who want to look cool.

I have no problem with it, but I'm not going to do it. I already donate money to a few different causes that I support.

I have noticed that some people forget to put or mention ALS in their video. They are just doing it for the kicks not for the charity.

Kinda like the no makeup challenge for cancer charities. People started lying about not wearing makeup and/or didn't mention the charity.

Anyway I got nominated and I did it with 2 of my friends, but I used normal water. I didn't tag myself either because my relatives would give me shit for it. So sorry I'm a terrible person, at least it's on my friends' pages

And it's better than neknoms right

A bunch of sheep following the rest of the herd..

Just as lame as all the "Harlem Shake" crap but morons can wrap themselves in their own self-righteousness because it's "raising awareness"..

Nice that you mentioned this. Its funny how they want to raise awareness when they are not aware of the project itself

Just another trend that's not really going to do anything. But it's nothing to have any negative feelings towards as it's harmless, and some people are actually doing it with good intentions and not just because everyone else in their facebook feed is doing it.

That couldn't be any less accurate.

It's kinda dumb, but it's working remarkably well, so I'm not sure how you could be against it.

EDIT: My absolute favourite part of it is how stupid the cynics look because it's actually doing something. The internet can do cool stuff too, it's not just porn and trolls and troll porn.

I think it's good when people with a platform do it to raise awareness for the disease and donate a reasonable amount within their means to support the cause. It's a bit of fun for a good cause, I don't really see what the harm could possibly be. Even if someone forgets to mention the cause at this point we already know what it's for so it still serves the purpose of raising awareness and getting people to donate.

lol if cancer research was a sound business model with little risk there would already be hella cures. cash rules everything around me, cream, get the money, dolla dolla bill y'all

i'm all about government funded medical research though.

This. Now it's just celebrities pouring buckets of ice on their heads to feel relevant without even naming the charity or the disease or anything.

But yeah, it is a great thing when they mention what it's for.

Exactly.

It's become a "challenge" to do like "no make up selfies" or "neknominations" as opposed to an actual charity event.

I had literally no idea what it was about until I specifically asked someone. That is not awareness raising at all.

No mention of charities or anything else. If it's to raise awareness, you should raise the ****ing awareness.

Yeah, that's what I complained about, good one putting words in my mouth.

There's probably plenty of people who don't know what they're doing it for, my mum asked me why they were doing it earlier, she didn't know it was anything to do with charity.

Donate to whoever you want, but at least let people know it's for charity.
