Long story short: Years ago I bought a Boss DD-3 as one of my first pedals. Still love it, but at some point I don't remember, I packed the battery in wrong after replacing it, and when I stepped on it next, it damaged the cable connecting it to the pedal. It can't run off batteries anymore, but it still works on outlet power. Is there any way to fix the broken cable? It's at least six or seven years old, so warranty is no problem.

Any electronics store (brick and mortar or online) will have those.
You can check your local Radioshack, even if they are a rip off, will only cost a buck or 2.
In a pinch you can strip some of the wire insulation back and just twist them together then put some electrical tape over the bare wire.

The electrical tape will insulate just as well as the actual insulation?

yup.
As long as it stays on, yeah.
Thats why they call it electrical tape.
Get about 2 or 3 wraps around the bare wire and you are good. to go.
Hot glue works too.

Huh, I always had the impression that electrical tape was a temporary kind of solution that seals well enough for a year or two, but should be replaced by real insulation sooner or later.

Excellent, this should fix the damn thing

Yeah well, after a few years, it may peel apart a bit.

Thats why I said "In a pinch".
Its not the preferred way, but it will do for awhile.

If you give it a few wraps, then add another seperate wrap with the sticky sides together, it will hold longer
