I am a beginner at playing metal on electric guitar.

I am trying to learn the intro in the song Drawn To Black by Insomnium.
But I have trouble with my left hand when playing. Half-way through the intro whenever I try to play it, it becomes tired, stiff and I find it hard to relax it to keep playing as good in the second half as I did in the first half of the riff.

Below you can see me playing the second half of the riff. Can you see if I do any mistakes in my technique that is causing my problems? Or do I just have to be more patient and practice the riff/intro more?:

It looks like I am moving my long-and index finger more than this guy:

Am I supposed to use bar chords when playing this intro or not or how is the other guy doing ìt? If he uses barre chords, then how do you do it when playing metal properly? How do you mute unplayed strings when playing barre chords in metal? How would you play this intro?

Thanks for the help!
