I'm currently looking at EH Memory Boy / Toy, MXR Carbon Copy, Malekko Ekko, or anything else in that $150-200 range (although I am tempted to hold out for a Boss DM-2, has anyone A/B'd the original with the DM-2W? [Edit: Nevermind, didn't realize it was brand spanking new]).

I'm looking an analog / tape delay to go with my TC Electronic Nova Delay ND-1 to act generally as a warbley echo. I don't really care about a lot of features, I'm more focused on the sound of the trails.

I play an Am.Dlx Fat Strat through a Peavey Classic 50. I use a TS808 and a ProCo Rat (LM308 equipped) for distortion. I like to play a lot of ambient, but still musical kinda stuff. When I think modulation and delay I kind of default to the 70s.

All that said, any suggestions are welcomed. I'm not really digging the "darker" CC sound, but I hear the Memory Toy has volume issues or something. Should I stick with my budget and get one of those (if so, which one), or do I hold out for a "holy grail" of delays to get that Echorec style deterioration?

The Wampler Faux Tape Echo is supposed to be really good. I haven't played one.

Thanks for the suggestions! I really did like the faux tape and the Disaster Transport Jr. However, after a bit more research I'm down to 3 that really stick out for me.

Anyone mind sharing their experiences with them?
