Hello,

I've recently just got back into playing guitar, so have dusted off my Pacifica 112v.

The only thing is that I'm after a crunchier Gibson type sound rather than strat type sound.

So was thinking of getting a mahogany bodied guitar and As I don't use the trem was looking for fixed bridge. The other thing I was looking for was bridge and neck pups.

So I found the ibanez Rg421.

Which seemed to fit the bill, but then thought about upgrading the pups and bridge, then
Thought are there any other alternatives worth looking at?

If you want a super strat shape LTD makes some decent ones.

But you might want to look at the LTD EC series, they are more LP-ish

they have a pretty thin neck, but not like Ibanez thin.

Bear in mind though that LTD's usually uses XJ frets, I wasn't aware of that and kept pressing too hard when playing but once I got used to them, they're actually pretty comfy.

You can also look at epiphone's if you want gibson-ish sounds?

But I think giving us your budget can really help us give suggestions. Also, when you say you don't like the strat sound, does that mean you want something that sounds different from the humbucker on the pacifica as well?

Budget around £350 max, but I'm going to try the RG421 and see how I like it.
Which might leave around £120 for pickup replacements.

Any suggestions for replacing the bridge on the RG?

Don't really like the Pacificas bright sound, even with the humbucker.

Also the RG421 has mahogany body, seems to tick all the boxes.

Fenandes' online store is having a clearance sale. Good options for you would be one of the Dragonfly, Ravelle, Monterey, or SHIN guitars.

Don't. It doesn't need it.

Looks good, but I'm in the UK!

Hmm...don't know how their UK prices stack up, or even if the sale applies there, but:

It does not look like the sale extends here!

I will test out the RG421 to see what it's like.
