Hi there Pit,

So the last few nights I've been laying in bed tossing and turning and thinking about all kinds of stuff. bad stuff, good stuff, average stuff, you name it.
This is causing me to be extremely tired, yet still unable to sleep.

I'm sure that many of you, if not all of you, have had the same

I usually get out of bed and drink some water, stay downstairs in the dark for a bit, then go back to bed, after which I fall asleep for the remaining 3-4 hours the night has left.

I'd like to know how do you guys deal with this yourselfs, so please: Do tell!

I have no job, or any other reason to get up, so it doesn't really matter a damn.

I take ambien. Though if you decide to take that, I suggest you don't force yourself to stay awake.

And if you do happen to stay awake through it anyway, it's probably a good idea not to take it again.

Try to get some tart cherry juice. It's very high in melatonin. I've been doing that as of late while dealing with very bad insomnia. It's helped me a lot.

Op, I've had problems before, but only when I've had no reason to get up. So that really ****s you up. Once I got a job and have a need to get up at the same time every day, my schedule is normal. Just try to get in a schedule and don't nap during the day.

Smoke weed.

And don't take melatonin. Its very rare that someone actually needs it. Just not being able to sleep doesn't mean you lack it. So yeah don't take it unless you want to further **** up your sleep cycle.
#17
I don't smoke weed, however I usually tend to sleep well after getting drunk. But then again it's probably not worth getting drunk each night just to sleep.
This thread wasn't really meant to solve my problem I was just curious about how others deal with it. Some people have this every night. I just get it a few nights in a row sometimes. It will pass for me in time.

Which is why I will now attempt to sleep

Minimize looking at screens before going to bed for a while.

Read a book for 20 minutes or so before going to bed.

Don't eat carbs or sugar at least two hours before bed.
Eat a healthy diet.
Don't drink coffee in the afternoon - definitely not after 5pm.
Don't drink coke or sugary drinks either.
If you drink enough alcohol you'll pass out but otherwise it is not really conducive to a good night's sleep.
Exercise. Go for a run in the morning. Lift some weights just before lunch. Swim lengths in the evening. If you can throw in a game of basketball in the afternoon and maybe a mountain bike ride as well your body will be good and tired come the end of the day. Getting outside is important.
Relax. Soak in a bath, hot pools, sauna, etc. Get a massage. Some meditation or breathing exercises are supposed to slow the heart rate and help you relax too.

So basically all the usual treat your body like a temple stuff.

Yea, I usually don't have to take much at all. Just a little dose is enough to get me asleep.

One time I forgot I took it and took it again and stuff got bad and strange

after the 200 range delirium sets in. reading about what happens in the 500+ range is very interesting but the experience is in no way worth it IMO

Before I was put on medication, I used to drink until I blacked out because it was the only way I could get to sleep.
Few Fenders, few Gibsons, few amps & other stuff.

reading usually does the trick for me, also doing something physically tiring. Not looking at screens is good advice, I hear that dimming the lights in your house a few hours before bedtime also helps.

If you're looking for a cheap, over the counter knock-out pill, Benedril does that pretty good.

benedryl doesn't do shit for me unless I drink alcohol with it but that can't be safe since I have to take 100+ mg of benedryl to feel anything

I haven't slept normal since I was a junior in high school

sleeping pills typically kill your rem sleep, which is necessary

lemongrass tea helps, sometimes

beta-myrcene extract

or weed. a nice indica should help.

weed is good yeah but you cant post that in the same post saying "sleeping pills kill your REM sleep" cuz weed interferes with REM too.
