As the title states, I could be considered a newb to tablature. Below is something that I'm having trouble with...

-----------------
-----------------
-----------------
-----------------
-00000-------
-11111-------

I see the same thing in a lot of tabs (of course, usually with different numbers). How am I supposed to barre/play an open and a 1st fret at the same time?

Replies are appreciated.

You do know the lines represent the different strings, right? The lowest line (the one which has the 1's) is the low E string, the next one (with the zeros) is the A string, etc. - so you hold the low E string at the 1st fret and strum that string together with the open A string.

Looks like you still need some time with tabs to read them properly. Here's a very good guide to reading tabs on Songsterr: http://www.songsterr.com/a/wa/howToReadTab

Yeah, I know about that already.

I also figured out the answer to my own question just after I posted this topic. That was really stupid of me... Pardon my ignorance, ha ha. Thanks, though. Is there any way to delete this thread?
