I installed 2 single coils and 1 humbucker active Dragonfire pups and I'm getting very low output. I grounded them to the body which I know you don't HAVE to do but that you CAN. Is that grounding them out, or is it possible they're grounding out somewhere else? Thanks!
Have you checked your battery connection and raised the pickups very close to the strings?
yes to both. I even bought brand new batteries but same problem
I sometimes get very low output with the emg81tw on my v guitar. the problem on my guitar seems to be the pickup selector switch. its one of those LP-type switches which have real crappy flap-like contacts. try to strum, and push the contacts slightly together to see if the output changes.
Using 500k pots?
You did swap out the pots for the actives, right?
I would take the grounding off dude, it can be dangerous if you are near a microphone (possibility of reverse polarity shock)
The pots wont make a difference, guys. The only thing 500k pots vs 25k for actvies is the taper. It is either all or nothing, no middle ground. that wont have anything to do with the low output.
