Are the guitars on this website cheap knockoffs or are they just cheap because they aren't a big name brand?:
http://www.fortissimoinstruments.co.uk/guitars/electric-guitars

I'm a beginner and I want to play lead parts and solos from metal songs. I saw this guitar for £100 and I wanted to buy it because it has a Floyd rose trem on it.

Would it be worth buying or will it sound really bad?

They look like cheap knockoffs to me. Also, I'd shy away from locking tremolos on guitars that cheap. For the most part, they don't work very well.

Anything with a fixed bridge might be passable to OK from there, but I wouldn't touch anything with a trem.

good floyd rose trems cost more than £100 alone. don't get a cheap guitar with a floyd, in other words.

those guitars look really cheap. they may be fine, but i'd err on the side of caution.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

If you want a cheap shred guitar with a trem go for a Jackson Dinky or something used, those you posted look dodgier than a reusing an old condom

Well originally I was planning on buying a Floyd Rose on its own for around £110, but I found out my current guitar (a Fender Strat) requires some extra work to have it fitted on.

Yeah, not worth it really...

I could find you a half decent guitar with a Floyd though if you have us a max budget.

I'll probably just wait and get an Ibanez once I have progressed a bit further, thanks for your help though.

Found something for £110 that's pretty reputable...

Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=141392431393&alt=web

Squier Showmaster for £90 BIN.

What do I win?

Excellent find! I own the Stagemaster (which is basically the HSH version of this); definitely a solid guitar. Although, I may have some advice for TS...

Thanks so much, I just bought it. This will be perfect for practicing shredding, thanks again!

The one piece of advice I'd give you is that you may, at some point, want to replace the stock pickups. They're not bad, but they're not great either. I find it really made my Stagemaster sound better when I got some hotter pups.

Awesome

I hope its a good one, for £90 you can't go too far wrong, with a good setup that term should be usable.

Make sure to look up how to set them up correctly though as FR bridges can be an absolute mare of you aren't used to working on them.

Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks, I'll probably get my friend to set everything up since I'm planning on doing a day 1 pickup and string change as well. Thanks again for the amazing find!
