I'm at the point where I want to be able to do sweep picking because I'm "good" enough to learn a lot of the music I like, but I can't sweep. I was wondering if you guys have any good "beginner" sweep riffs or pieces that could help me get introduced to it. Thanks!

Bleeding Mascara by Atreyu is also just about as basic as it gets.

Excellent thread, and also an excellent song to introduce you to 3 string sings. I would however argue that it's easiest starting with 4/5 string sweeps. 3 string sweeps can slip beginners up in particular because the sweep motion is very minimal compared to a 4/5 string sweep.
The most important part of sweeping is good muting with both left and right hands. I'd suggest not practicing sweeps with a clean tone ever because it hides a lot of mistakes contrary to popular belief. With a lot of gain a good listener (which every guitar player should be) can pick up on even the slightest slightest of poor muting.
