1. Zao
2. Botch
3. Converge

1. Misery Signals
2. Norma Jean
3-10. (in no particular order) Poison the Well, The Chariot, Shai Hulud, 7 Angels 7 Plagues, The Bled, Skycamefalling, Converge, Every Time I Die

I felt 'Botch' fell more into Mathcore which is why I didn't include them here. Otherwise DEP would have been on the list too.

I liked them if that is what you meant. They were the band that got me into hardcore and metal. first band I ever listened to with screaming vocals.

Oh ok. I would've figured they would be in your top 10

There is very little 'core' to FATA if any at all.

I mean if you want me to add the not Tr00-metalcore bands on the list, then my list changes drastically. Bring in some:

-Darkest Hour
-Unearth
-Heaven Shall Burn
-Caliban
-Bleeding Through

And now I can have a nice little party.

Feel free! Even if you think Bring Me The Horizon or Asking Alexandria are metalcore, feel free to post your top 10 list. I want EVERYONE to be welcome. Except Hitler. No one likes Hitler. Let this be a library and a future reference of music to all!

Whyyyyyyyyy

Because both are awesome.

Zao's The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here is where I'd start. Rorschach has like a ton of splits & EPs, but it's best to get their Autopsy discography off Amazon or something.

Same old variation of the stuff you guys are already listing for the most part.

1. Misery Signals
2. Every Time I Die
3. The Dillinger Escape Plan
4. Botch
5. The Chariot
6. Converge
7. Architects (pre-THaN)
8. Shai Hulud
9. SikTh
10. Skycamefalling

If you're willing to bend to more hardcore/post-hardcore bands, then Counterparts, Glassjaw, and Alexisonfire are up there as well.

3-Misery Signals
4-Deadguy
5-Norma Jean
6-Groundwork
7-Disgrace
8-Baptists

At least that's how it is right now. I would put 7A7P on there too but I've not listened to them in ages. A Sight for Sewn Eyes and DEP deserve an honourable mention too.

I think we can all agree that Shai Hulud and Converge belong up there. But as much as I like Converge, I'd have to say everything from Jane Doe after is mathcore.

Mathcore and Metalcore are pretty much interchangeable.

This is what i keep saying about not getting TOO hung up on genres.

Interchangeable? I have yet to see how so. Examples? I can see it with Botch and Norma Iean though
#22
Botch, Norma Jean, Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan are all Metalcore and Mathcore bands. When you're talking that era of Metallic Hardcore, it's basically all the same thing.

So then if those bands are mathcore AND metalcore, what about bands like Earth Crisis and Deadguy? Made they from the same era? Does that make them mathcore?

earth crisis lack the chaotic and technical nature that the other stated bands had

True.

Not that it makes them any less good, btw.

All mathcore bands are metalcore, but not all metalcore bands are mathcore.
