Q: why is his number 333?
A: because that's how much he weighs

Most fat baseball players are either first basemen, who barely run at all, designated hitters, something only half of the league does whose entire job is to do nothing but hit, and pitchers, who can technically benefit from greater mass due to the amount of force needed to throw a 90 MPH fastball without blowing out multiple joints; Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia used to be one of the game's best pitchers. He was also one of its fattest at nearly 320 lbs. After a relative died of heart problems at 45, he's dropped down to 275 over the past few years(Which, given he's 6'7", is more reasonable than it sounds), which is great because it means he's going to have a better long-term health outlook. However it's also thrown off his throwing motion to the point of having his worst statistical years in the past few seasons, and needed knee surgery this past year.

I imagine standing around for >three hours, occasionally reaching to catch and pitch a ball, isn't very draining.

Because it's America, and you don't need to be in shape at all to be a pro baseball player

Actually the picture depicted is the Japanese leagues. Not taking anything away from them, they have great talent that crosses over.

And Bartolo is hawt.
