Just listened to it, there was no part of that that was even remotely hardcore.. or happy. Just sounded like bad techno to me

It's called 'Happy Hardcore'. Not really guitar related but worth the look.
It's weird but I kinda like it. It just needs some guitar in it..

what was the old hype? glad I missed that one

this was worth the spent. thx ts.

also, why does it need guitars in it?
sometimes I see us in a cymbal splash or in the sound of a car crash

Hahaha, it was pretty huge in Holland so it's everything but new for me.
And I don't listen to Happy Hardcore but their old stuff is waaaaay better than this. Like Aquarius or Have You Ever Been Mellow. Those were the days :p

But you made an account just to post this or just a coincide?

I'm with you. That was just techno. There was nothing resembling hardcore in the video I just watched.

Happy hardcore came and went A LONG time ago

It's probably the most irrelevant genre of music in EDM right now.

I thought happy hardcore was this aka easycore

The happy hardcore OP posted has been around way longer than stuff like Four Year Strong. I don't know if you remember but they came up with easycore as a name for that exact reason.

Hardcore = hard dance = hardstyle influence.

And I hate to sound elitist but this sounds nothing like and has nothing to do with techno. It'd be like calling Fall Out Boy metal because they use the same instruments as metal bands.

Yeah I wasn't exactly sure what to call it, but it didn't sound like most of the EDM I'd listened to so I just generally labeled it "techno" . My bad, I guess it's a common mistake. Thanks for clarifying the rest of the name, though. I seriously had no idea why hardcore was a name for this style of music.

The only time I ever heard someone say happy hardcore is when I was in high school and some hipster chick said I wouldn't understand it and that was in 1999 or 2000

Yeah it is pretty common, it's not anything that I get offended by or anything. I've always been more confused than anything as to why techno became a catch all when techno is its own sub genre that's honestly pretty underground and different from what almost anyone thinks it is.

But yeah I don't know why it was called hardcore either, I mean I guess with original hardstyle it made a little sense because it is loud, aggressive music, but hardcore punk had already been around for 5-10 years when they gave it the name.

Maybe irony because this sounds like the complete opposite of hardcore?

Well to be fair hardstyle is honestly way more abrasive and aggressive than other types of dance music and happy hardcore took its name from hardstyle.

Tbf I don't know a whole lot of the history of hardstyle because I literally never listen to hardstyle at all.

I heard they're coming out with a "new" metal, with like white guys in dreadlocks rapping. It's weird but I kinda like it.
