So, I'm currently the owner of an ESP Alexi. But the stock pick up is a POS (EMG HZ ) Just finding it to be a really, really flat pick up with no real dynamics. Looking at a budget of about £100 (I'm in the UK)

The amps I'm going to be using are either a XXX or a JCA HDM 100. Playing metal and tuned to drop C sharp. I was thinking about going for something high output, but going through an amp with tons of gain I'm not sure that that's a good idea. But I really like the articulation and the clarity of an EVO though.

I just bought an IronGear Steam Hammer to put in a superstrat that I'm rebuilding (and that I'll keep in drop-C for high-gain metal), and it cost £27.

Still don't know how it sounds, though. But if you're interested and willing to wait, the guitar will be ready in a couple of weeks and I can make a demo of the pickup then.
