So I want to do a talent show, but there is this part where they improvise and I'm not sure what scale it is in. Could you please help me identify it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=WgVGUXXVnag#t=354 Thanks in advance!

This thread topic is gold. I've been on this website for 8 years and I've never come up with anything like this. So yeah. Great job TS[457undead].
They're just basically playing over Fm and Eb, mostly using a mixture of F minor pentatonic, and adding the 2nd (9th).
Just figure out the chords they are playing over. That way you can figure out the key and the scale that could work over it. When it comes to rock music, it is most likely something pentatonic with maybe some accidentals. But really, if you need to ask us what scale to use, I don't know if you are ready to perform at a talent show.

The solo in the video was mostly pentatonic and there were some major 6ths and 2nds too.

Just remember that there are no boring scales, just boring players.
