So this may sound a little weird but hear me out. Long story short we have a friend who is a complete dick and has this coming to him, basically we have one of his (many) guitars and amps and want to ruin them internally without ruining them visually. Basically we just want them to stop working but still looking fine, how would you go about doing that?

Thanks! And sorry for the iffy question.

Woah, I really didn't think it was that bad... Plus I don't really see anything in the rules that is against what I'm asking for.

You did the equivalent of going to ultimatekittens.com and asked for recipes. What kind of response did you really expect?

Well technically it's destruction of someone else's property, which is illegal, and promotion of illegal activities is against the rules here.

But even more than that, it's a dick move. If he's a jerk then just give his stuff back and tell him that you don't want to associate with him anymore.

I wish it was that easy.. This is a guy I used to work for, he completely stiffed me for over $2000 and I tried taking to the cops but apparently I didn't have enough evidence... It's really a matter of taking matters into my own hands. I understand why people don't want to help me, but I really do need something to at least make myself feel even a little better.

Grow some balls. Punch him in the face. But don't ruin his gear, that's a really, really pathetic way of getting back to him.

If he is straight, buy him some gift subscriptions to a bunch of gay mens magazines and have them addressed to him at his work.
Totally legal.

Just get someone to rub their balls over the neck.

Not damaging at all, but he'll be touching something someone's balls touched.

Tell him that you're keeping his gear for yourself as payment for the $2000 he owes you.

I dont know if this will work based on where you are but just take the fuse out of the amp.

If you rally want to get back at him swap the pickups round or ajust the truss rod so he has to get it setup. not damaging the stuff but making it dificult for him

Just give him his gear back and suck up the loss. Damaging his gear isn't going to do any justice plus it'll just bring legal woes and bad musical karma.

I thought I've seen a thread of every possible topic on UG...

Seriously, why can't you just confront the guy and explain to him why you think whatever he might've done to make you want to go as far as wanting to destroy his expensive gear (that he may well have been well-earned through lots of hard work) is out of order?

EDIT:

lol you're such a selfish prick.

Who isn't to say that he 'siffed you over $2000' because you're the douchebag who provoked him to do such a thing, and you're playing the victim? You're not making a very strong case for yourself otherwise, by saying you want revenge.

Any decent person would simply disassociate from them.

And well yes, I'll enjoy the carpal tunnel and tendonitis, because trying to get one is clearly smarter than any word you have spoken thus far.

+1

I also like the gay porn suggestion. Because your getting him back 12 times and an extra holiday issue

What you need to do is go talk to a Lawyer, the police can't make him pay you. But getting a lawyer will either make him want to pay or you will go to court and they will make him pay. The court will also make him pay for your lawyer. If you were not on the books then that is a whole other legal/money battle he will have to face.

I've been stiffed for over $10,000 on a job my company did. all I could do is put a lean on his house so that when he sell it I will get paid. But I have to pay a $100ish a year to keep the lean.
