Wanting a small practice head capable of doing hi gain sounds can be one channel not being picky. Genre metal all types. Budget 3 to 4 hundred USD. Thanks.

Small practice head?

You might try to find one of the original 5W lunchbox heads -- the EVJr. New, mine was $99, so I bought two. One's still stock, the other has $290 worth of Mercury Magnetics mod packed into it. You should be able to find scads of these things.

Another option is a good used Carvin V3M. New, they're $599. Should be just within your budget used.

That's the one with the SLO based preamp.

Are they pretty decent gain wise straight away? Jet city that is?

Yeah, they sound very SLO like. If that RM20 wasn't so cheap and I didn't have that Jaded Faith SLO module already, I would have bought one. All comes down to whether or not you like SLO's really.

Check out Mahaffay Amps. I have the Little Lanilei 3350, it's badass. Seriously, big sound-tiny package.

Seeing as how you already have some MTS modules for your RM100, wouldn't going the same way as me and finding an RM20/RM22 be the wisest move?

There's an Orange Dark Terror at the store I work at, plugged into the Jim Root signature Orange Cab. That is my go to amp for jamming during my lunch break. Soooooooooo crunchy. Love it. Want it. Might get it.

New, they're a bit over your price range, but you might find a used one. The one at my store is marked down to like $450, I think, just because we've had it a while. You aren't in northern California, by chance?
