So Fatal_Gear and I agree, we are starting a rant thread. Here's where you can release those tirades against ignorant band members, manufacturers, equipment you dislike, bad performance experiences and yes, Spaz, Rickenbackers. Consider this the internet version of primal scream therapy and let loose.

But...the following rules apply:

1. No bitching about other forum members. You have an issue with someone, PM a mod and we'll take it "offline".
2. No bitching about UG or how the bass forum is run, or any moderator on UG. Again PM Tostitos or myself and we'll discuss it with you and review your gripe.
3. All postings have to be within the guidelines of UG and the Bass forum. Not sure, check the rules thread please.

If enough people concur, I will "pin" the thread for easy locating by forum members.

So raise your glass of whatever, and let the rants begin....

How is it that Gibson - a company that is pathologically obsessed with turning out reissue instruments - has yet to reissue the only truly great, original bass they ever created - the Gibson Victory Model?

People have been castrated for lesser crimes!!! But nooooooooooooo! Gibson sees fit to foist upon us soulless mutations like the "new" Gibson EB line of basses! They look like an "old" Gibson EB that was dry-humped by a herd of elephants!

It is bad enough that Gibson has traditionally ignored bassists, but this is just pissing on us and calling it rain!!!

And don't get me started on why Fireball outsells great whiskey like Maker's Mark! What is happening to this planet???!!!

I tried fireball. It tastes like someone liquified redhots. It's really a crime against whiskey

My big gripe.Band members who are oblivious to what everyone else in the band is doing. I've played with not one but two rhythm guitarists in two separate bands, who habitually played loud, oblivious to what ever anyone else was doing around them.

That's because college kids are poor and drinking liquid Atomic Fireballs still tastes better than downing a glass of Canadian Mist.

I don't get why Schecter can make a decent bass then slap garbage HZs in them? Every single model. $1000 bass? Give 'em EMGs!

That being said, I got an SR505 to go with my 4 string SR500 and I may sell these Schecters. Or just burn them.

Tell me about it! I ripped the Music Man-style EMG-HZ humbucker out of a Schecter Devil 4-string, put in a respectable Seymour Duncan MM-style humbucker, and the difference is like night and day to the Nth degree!

And Fireball is for people unworthy of true whiskey! Long live the great ones!!!

In a related note, why do so many good instruments with active pickups only have a bass knob and a treble knob? Is it that hard for manufacturers to consider that some people might just want to turn the mids up without adjusting treble and bass?

That is odd.

Why the hell would anyone want cinnamon flavored whiskey? I tried Aftershock when I was 18, and still to this day the smell of Big Red makes me gag.

Amp manufacturers need to start including a blend knob for the FX loop. Not all distortions have a blend, you amp making bastards.

Why do bass manufacturers insists on making necks narrower and narrower as if their entire audience are 12 year old girls. I want to play a gods damn bass guitar, not a piece of overcooked linguine.

Some of us have little girly hands. I can still play a TRB 6-er or Modulus Wide just fine, but Status/Steinberger-narrow just makes everything easier.

My rant is the usual why can't Fender bring back the best of their Custom Colors. Why must we suffer so? Also why can't G&L come out with a Tribute SB-1/LB-100 or a Tribute ASAT?

Hey; I'd buy one! If that little pony can play with his hoofs, then it must be one kick-ass Rickenbacker!!!

As for Fender Custom Colors, who needs more than Jet Black and Candy Apple Red?

There's always daisyrock...which brings up my two gender related issues.

Why do we even NEED Daisyrock pink basses for girls? No young girl bass player I ever knew would go within 10 feet of one of those..

And why is it why I tell people I play bass they automatically assume I like Carol Kaye and Esperaza Spaulding?
#16
1.Signature Artist models that are just different colors and/or have slightly different pups/electronics from the standard models.

2.Why are double MM pickup 5er so rare under the $1100 price range?

3.Playing slap bass + Japanese + fan of both Casiopea and Dir En Grey ≠ fan of Tetsuo Sakurai(currently a solo artist) or Toshiya(rarely composes music).
Damn it! Disable can't use disable to disable Disable's disable because disable's disable has already been disabled by Disable's disable!

Probably because you misspelled "Esperanza Spaulding."

As for Carol Kaye, it probably has to do with her being one of the "Wrecking Crew." Too many people find it blasphemous to not worship such sacred cows.

Yeah, but I really don't like either of them. Carol is dillusional and Ms. Spaulding is a bitch in person. However that is a story for another day...

This thread now officially has more MLP content than the MLP thread over at the pit.

Also, I was hoping for a MLP themed Rickenbacker not that bitch Colgate.

Can you ask them to lower the price?

My life is Pandora's ****ing Box right now.

Led Zep remastered, now with even less bass!

They should make a 'documentary' about JPJ, Geezer Butler and Jason Newstead. Call it "It Might Get Drowned."

I'm sure I can make that bass related somehow.

Fender is too busy pissing off John Mayer these days:

https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1658864

And Stu Hamm has dumped Washburn and is now playing a Warwick bass, so he will probably dump Hartke amplifiers and play a Warwick amp, too. So the real question is...

...what will Stu play after he dumps Warwick?

Fender used up all their ingenuity for this half century with the Gibson EB Dimension bass. We'll have to wait until 2064 for the next big thing.

Or a reissue of something actually good.

They already issues a cheap version of the Bass VI, they dont really need to do much else now.

But really for a VI there is only one good budget model on the market, and it ain't no fender. The Eastwood wipes the floor with the Squier and Pawn Shop VI.

On more of a rant: Why the **** are all vintage basses so ****ing expensive. Most were damn cheap when they were made. There is a cool Soviet Roden bass (Copy of one of the old Guild basses), they sound like wank and i'd like one to mod into something decent. But 1100eur..... go do one.

Most lefty bassists that play 6 strings play custom made basses...so unless you have 3000$ you're ****ed.

Well; if you don't mind a short-scale sixgun, there is always the Brice:

http://www.rondomusic.com/product5941.html

Carvin's new Vanquish sixgun is about US$1,400.00, which is not bad at all; considering what you get.
