That's a synthesised sound - it's not an acoustic sound that's been manipulated. The only way you're going to really nail that sound with a bass guitar is by converting the signal into MIDI. Effective ways to do that in real time are limited, especially if you're on a budget. The Industrial Radio MIDI bass is the best option on the market, but they're not cheap. You could also look into something like the Sonuus B2M bass to MIDI converter, but they're not flawless by any stretch of the imagination (slow tracking and glitchy conversion etc).
