I know playing louder and softer will change dynamics

but what is it in a tube amp makes it so sensitive to dynamics compared to a solid state?

I sit the pre-amp tube or the power tubes > or both?

That depends on how you run the amp. If you run it with the volume at almost full and the gain low, then the power tubes. If you run the volume low and the gain high, then it comes from the preamp tubes.

^^ up for that.
In short if you distort your signal you lower the dynamic range, and the most dynamic range comes from the stage which distorts the signal less.

Now this is false though.

Nothing makes tubes inherently more dynamic sounding, it's all a matter of how the amp's designed.

You'[re talking about dynamics in a different sense. When guitarists talk about the dynamics of an amp they are talking about the change in tone produced from different picking strengths - not dynamic range like on a recording. Totally different and unrelated things.
