Hey how's it going... I need a stage monitor to use with a pod hd 500x
I have a budget of around ~250. I play mostly metal. I'm using emg 81 pups.

I have no other amp besides a 15w practice. I use the PA system where I play and a friend's stack currently. I want my own monitor but I don't know jack about speakers and what to buy as far as the quality brands etc...

In this case any feedback would be appreciated. Thnx

The LS1202MA is the one to look at. The LS1202M is passive if I'm not mistaken.

They make active and passive in that model, but what's the difference?

Passive doesn't have an amplifier built in, they're just speakers. I thought the LS1202M was the passive version and the LS1202MA is the active one. But I'm no Carvin expert. Maybe dspellman will see this and chime in, he's well up on Carvin stuff.

you're right but I was referring to active vs passive in the ls series and which one to get. Lol its all new to me.

If you buy the passive one you will also need to buy a power amp. Actives are far less hassle.

Check the used market too. Wedges are often sold off cheap. Yamaha, EV, Altec, Mackie, JBL; all good. You need a 12" woofer and 100W+

Thanks for your help man. I'll keep looking around at those brands and used gear.
