I got some new gear a while back and started recording again and im noticing this issue where everything I record has this nasty hiss to it.

interlude hiss

There is an example of something I threw together to get the point across. I've tried everything to get the hiss out, but it seems to be constant at basically all mid to high range frequencies and no matter what I do it persists. I've looked into what might be causing it with the amplifier and no luck.

Does anyone happen to maybe know what this is, and why it's happening?

I'm recording from my amp straight into my line input on my custom sound card for my computer.

I've read something about it possibly having to do with bad ground wiring in the outlets of my house? I noticed that when I use this amp barefoot while standing on concrete each guitar I use ends up zapping me, and that this might have some kind of effect causing this hiss interference.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

You need an interface, not a computer sound card.

No exceptions. Not for anybody.
