Hi there group.

I'm a new guitar player. I just bought a Used Squier affinity strat.

I'm wondering is it normal that the volume control does not seem to act on overall volume of the output sound level. It seems to act on the amplitude of the tone buttons.

Does that make sense to you.

I took the pick gard off an i compared the wiring diagrams I found on the net and everything seems to be in order.

Thank you

Are you playing with distortion though?
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

So i get that volume knob should be on overall output.
So i should consider that there is a faulty volume pot?

Is that correct?

So like, you press the tone buttons and they make a sound at a certain volume that you can control with the output volume control?

'cause that's sooo much cooler than your everyday guitar, I gotta get a squier myself.
Name's Luca.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

Theogonia777. No I'm not using distorsion.

Spambot2.
No, when I turn the volume knob from 10 to 0, I get only a minimal drop in volume. I would say it´s like turning from 10 to 9.

the actual knob might not be attached

I think what you need is a new amp

Try the Line 6 Spider IIIs, they have amazing tone.

Yeah but Marshall MGs have crushing overdrive and Zakk Wylde plays them.
