Would be nice if they were actually sending people to mars rather than just talking about it.

I feel like the new millennium is lacking in historic moments.

North Korea - 1
France, Germany, Italy, Belgium and the UK - 1
Rest of the world - 0

*Uranus joke

When I was a youngun, I asked my uncle the very legitimate question: Does Uranus have rings around it?

To which he replied, "Not the last time I checked"

Then all the adults laughed at me and still laugh at me.

The government gives such a small percentage of the budget to NASA. It's embarrassing that while we could have built the Hadron Collider in America it sits near Switzerland while states like Kansas are getting intelligent design taught in school. I'd love to see NASA and America lead te way to Mars, but I really think the private sector is going to take over, there's some folks throwing a lot of money at projects to Mars and turning massive profits. I heard it said that the first people investing in the colonization of Mars will be the first trillionaires.

You should tattoo a ring around your anus and show it to them, we'll see who's laughing then eh?

These are the early steps to becoming a space-faring species. That's amazing. How much do you wanna bet that since SpaceX won a contract with them, that Elon Musk was just calling up the director of NASA every day and just went "Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Let's send people to Mars. Do it."

No, we're going to Mars, you're not.

Your reaction would be reasonable, even appropriate, had you been born in a better place...

Why is it taking you so long to get here?

I know, and I appreciate that you got that I was kidding, even if others didn't. (The big smiley was perhaps too subtle?)

That's unfortunate, I think you would do really well here.

Ah, my mistake. Given that we've occasionally had less-than-agreeable conversations, I had supposed you were opining that my comment was 'par for the course' or to be expected from such an unenlightened neanderthal as myself.
