With the end of the year coming up, here's a chance to share with everyone your favourite albums of the year. There is no restriction to genre, you can post what you think were the best albums, and you don't need to post them in any specific order (if you do want to specify, go ahead) By the way, if you really can't list 10, you don't need to (it's up to you).

Since Christmas is coming up, let's keep it light, so don't 'slam' someone for having a 'bad taste' in music (personal preferences is key here).

e.g. my 10 are:
Carnifex - Die Without Hope
Slipknot - .5: The Gray Chapter
Behemoth - The Satanist
Martyr Defiled - No Hope, No Morality
Pray for Locust - In the Shadow of Colossus
Motionless In White - Reincarnate
Chelsea Grin - Ashes to Ashes
Revocation - Deathless
Whitechapel - Our Endless War
Rise Against - The Black Market
"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Shakespeare - Macbeth

This is like the third AOTY thread this year I think? Shouldn't we actually wait until the end of the year?

And as much as I love Rise Against, I wasn't too crazy about The Black Market. Though A Beautiful Indifference is an amazing song.

Nooooo noooooooooooo The Sufferer & The Witness is best. Everything past that became different.

I'd place it in order of best to worse:
-The Sufferer & The Witness
-Siren Song of the Counter Culture
-Endgame
-Appeal To Reason
-The Black Market

Can't really place anything prior to Revolutions Per Minute. Like The Angel is a great song though.

The Sufferer & The Witness is actually the album that got me into them. It's the best of the post-SSotCC era, but still just not as good I don't think. I guess I can agree though that stylistically, Sufferer and the Witness is at least a mix of both eras.

I know it isn't the end of the year, but it is close, with the majority of album releases already done (badly phrased, sorry). This can be a rolling thread, i.e. you can re-edit your post if you forgot a band, or are waiting for a release in the last 25, or so, days.

And what you vote for is the best only for the year, not for the band's career. I agree, Rise Against's Black Market wasn't their best, but it was a very good album released this year, that is what I meant. I don't want to start an argument for each band saying which album was their best (which may be a little late)

No, I don't think you understand.

1.) The main problem with this thread is it's been done at least 3 times by 3 different users
2.) If someone forgot to add something, they should've probably bumped the last thread.
3.) I wasn't voting at all because as I've mentioned in the previous threads, I don't listen to enough music to name 3 / All the albums I'm waiting for are coming in next year.
4.) Having a disagreement is NOT having an argument.

Oh also,

Yass. We can agree on that.

It's funny how it's the opposite for me. Siren Song is what got me into them and I think TS&TW was a tad better.

I don't understand to a certain point is a fair enough assumption. Yes, I was unaware of the other AOTY threads. When I said 'vote', I couldn't come up with a better choice of word at the time, and I know you didn't 'vote'.
I know there is a line between having a disagreement and an argument. I don't tend to jump to the conclusion that anyone starts an argument when there's a disagreement.

I doubt I've answered all your concerns, or you disagree with what I said. So, if you do want to clarify something, or discuss something I have mentioned, please message me and I'll try and get back to you a.s.a.p. Sorry for the confusions.

RPM is like my favorite album and The Unraveling is awesome too.

I liked ATR way better than endgame though.

Let's see. My top albums of the year in no order would include, in no order,

Get Hurt - The Gaslight Anthem
Ultraviolence - Lana del Rey
Goddess - BANKS
1989 - Taylor Swift

Maybe a couple of others. I'm not at my computer now so I can't check iTunes.

Also, haven't listened to the new Maroon 5, so I don't know if it's worthy of the list, but the two singles so far have been great so who knows.

EDIT: Might as well toss in the new Clams Casino instrumental tape and the new Tycho album because I don't have anything else to put.

Get Hurt - The Gaslight Anthem

Anyone listened through Ben Howard's latest album? I've only heard a few songs and they're great.

Mastodon - Once More 'Round The Sun.

Not "Crack The Skye" material, but I prefer it to their previous "The Hunter"

The Joy of Motion by Animals as Leaders. The Woven Web is possibly one of the best song of the year.

edit: also that album art is sick.
