...is after playing 4 week old set of D'addario Nickel Blues being played for 10 minutes on my USA strat.

aren't my fingers a little bit on the grey side? my fingers don't ever sweat, even under lighting.

the strings sound good, intonate fine, and aren't even dead, they still have some shininess on them. WTF? does this happen to anybody else?

Happens to me. Usually with older D'Addario sets. Also happens to my picking hand where my hand or fingers come into contact with the strings.

I've had it happen, not a lot but with some strings
I'm just a kickin' and a gougin' in the mud and the blood and the beer.

I've had that happen to. I use d'addario as well. think there is a coating on the strings that rubs off.

I noticed it a lot when I was still playing with GHS Boomers.

It's happened here and there. It's just oxidation of the strings coming off onto your fingers. Just wash thoroughly so when you're done so you don't ingest or absorb too much.

Used to happen to me playing my old Yamaha Classical as a piss poor teenager with 4 month old Augustine Reds on it back when I was first starting out, the nasty part was it smelled like rotten sugar wafers (the strings, and my fingers after playing). Odd as I never ate sugar wafers whilst playing guitar.

same here. well i dunno about least sweaty in the world, but i don't seem to sweat that much. i don't wear out strings that quickly, for example. my fingers go black rather than grey, though.

do you think i could get a refund for my defective fingers too?

maybe the sweat dilutes it or washes it away?

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

My fingers always looked like that when I gigged a lot playing normal guitar. I'm playing slide full time now so it doesn't happen any more. My fingers hardly touch the strings now.

nice. lol.

i have played three or four hour sets (obviously i was getting breaks) and never seen it either.

matt yea it would suck.

______

i had a guitarist i played with several years in a band, and his hands were so sweaty when he played, i told him that i would kick his ass if he touched my guitar. he never did. nice guy. his guitar was just gross. i wouldn't even touch it lol. you could practically see the sweaty strings from several feet away.

Oh, btw. I use D'Addarios.

And play more. Then your fingertips won't be grey, they'll be black - much cooler.
