I want to buy my first electric. I am a beginner who plays and acoustic (all I have) in the conventional position and always sitting. I love the V shape and Mustaine is my favorite guitarist, but do you recommend one?

Ask the electric guitar section of this board.

Or if you want to save some time, try this before you go to that section. Go to a shop and get an idea of what you want specifically- specific models of V-shaped guitars and some others to solidify your criteria for your guitar. Then go to the electric guitar section- they'll ask you to fill out a questionnaire:
Budget? - What is practical for you and what is your limit?

Favorite Artists? - Are there any guitarists whose tone that you'd like to get close to?

Preferences? - What body shapes, neck profiles, brands, and number of frets do you like/want?

Pickups? - Do you want actives, passives, humbuckers, single coils? What configuration are you looking for?

New or Used? - Lots of great guitars out there used, and a guaranteed way to get the most bang for your buck.

Location? - Where are you located? The more detail you can give us, the more we can help you. We aren't here to stalk you but we need to know where you are in the world roughly, because prices and markets fluctuate throughout the world, and we can help further if we know what city you are in to see what used gear is available near you (ie craigslist, local shops, Guitar Center used section, etc).

Current Gear? - Also good for us to know.

You'll soon get recommendations.

The pit isn't exactly the right place for this.

Sitting shouldn't be a problem since you can play it classical position. You've just got to watch out for where the jack is so that the cable isn't where you want your leg to be.

God no. My first guitar was a Stagg V (lol) and it was awful to play sitting down. Plus it's such an awful guitar. Just get a normal one.

My first guitar was a Stagg Flying V copy and it's god awful.

Comfortable to play sitting down in a classical position though.

Whoever says its uncomfortable to play V's either isn't holding them correctly, or simply isn't used to holding a guitar like a classical.

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

Schecters are alright by me, they do have nice headstocks. RGs are where it's at though if that counts as a metal guitar.

Maybe I should just get a GIO then?
