Anyone here happen to live alone?

I'm finally in a financial situation where I can just about afford to rent my own place within a decent distance of where I work. It's something I've thought about doing for years, but I was wondering what other people here think of it?

I'd definitely get a cat too.
#3
I share a flat with a girl I also work with, because we started working at the same company at around the same time and both had trouble finding something. It's not bad, but sometimes I do wish I had a place all to myself.
#4
If i lived alone I'd be paying like $3000 for rent so it is definitely not possible for me now. I would need a pet if i were alone because I don't want to be alone all the time. I've never minded sharing a living space with anyone regardless of how well we get along.

ive been on my own for 7 years now. its cool.
i for one didnt like having roommates, for instance one guy blew 400 bucks at a strip club so me and the other person we lived with had to come up with the money. so it has its ups and downs.

me and my girl have been in our house for 3 years now and its cool.
plus you can have people over then kick them all out when ever you want.
the only down side is money, get ready to be broke unless you are making a grip of cash.

I'm going to move to an apartment probably in a few months, I'm quite intimidated but at the same time happy that I will have privacy and my own place to do what I want. Sad thing is that I have a dog here in my parents house and I don't know if I will take it with me or leave it but I love that dog man
#7
I prefer it. It's great to wake up, walk through the apartment naked, sit down and and masturbate in the morning without having to be considerate of anyone else.
#8
I've lived with my fiancé for 8 years. It's basically like I'm alone. I am constantly reminded that I am not though when I do something that should be private and I get the glare.

pros
-freedom
-can be disgusting without fear of reprimand
-own boss
-can sleep for eight hours a day if you feel like it
-can customise it to your liking

cons
-lonely
-have to tidy
-all ride the depression train

It's nice having your own place, but if you can only just afford it, you should wait. I've lived paycheck to paycheck and it gets old really quick, man. Wait until you got something better so you can afford rent and other stuff. There's a general rule (not a strict rule, more of a guideline): 1/3 of your salary or less should be rent. If 9/10 of your salary will be rent, just wait. There's nothing wrong with living at home for a little while.

Dude I'd totally build you a house if we lived in the same country.

Ive always been lucky with having cool roommates, a little messy at times but respectable about getting to it eventually. Living by yourself definitely has benefits, but id probably check craigslist ads for cool people just to switch it up and make new friends/etc

I've lived in a shared house with uni housemates for periods of a few weeks on my own.

It's nice in a way if you're a clean freak like me because you don't have to be all anal with other people regarding cleaning. Also being able to make as much noise as you want in the evening is good. However there's those days where you don't have any social contact at all and that's horrible. Being lonely and not talking to anyone else for an entire day is horrible and I'm not a fan of coming home in the evening and having no one there. It's weird and creepy.

If I move out I definitely want a house share at least with one other person, hopefully a similar age to me but we'll see.

So really it's a mixed bag but what do you expect.

I think once I finish school I'll most likely have roommates. But I don't mind because roommates can be cool and useful.

I have a pretty good set up w/ my family, it's almost like we're roomates that never see each other yet are all willing to put up with each other's dumb shit.

If I lived alone, I'd only do it if I regularly saw a good group of people like friends at work/school. I couldn't do living alone and also having a shit social life.
#18
It's cool, but it gets boring at times. It's fine if you have friends living nearby to hang out with when you bored out of your mind though. But I guess that it is better to live alone than with shitty roommates.

I'm happily married with cat now, but back in my bachelor days I had a ton of fun living alone, so much so that the stuff I learned then makes some rather complex things such as building guitars, or managing to work simultaneously as a Musician and an Information Technology specialist, or juggling a complex schedule, far easier than it would have been had I not had the training wheels I had back then via living alone. I also got a chance to actually find myself, something a lot of people never manage to do their whole life.

Also, there's a certain freedom that takes a lot of the edge off of various day-to-day things that become stressful when other people become dependent on you. There's a lot less "finding time" and a lot more "finding things to do with said time", and with my vast number of hobbies and things I'm involved in, I was never bored.

But still, I would not trade my marriage or current life for anything in the world, a big part of those years living alone was building up for this life.

It's awesome for a short time. you have learn to be self motivating during that time of you will get fairly depressed at times.
The best gig is too live with flatmates that are frequently away for work such as working on a ship or mines.

I live alone in a shitty small student flat. There are chickens somewhere that have more room than I have.

I've lived alone for like six months and it's pretty great. My girlfriend is over a lot when school is in and I can have friends over. The best part is that when I really just want to be alone I can kick them all out with plans for another day. And it's better than a dorm because I can have all my alcohol without hiding it

I prefer it, was nice living with my GF but not really. I like to do what I want when I want, if I want to socialize I go out or have people over. I hate drop by's though, I make sure my friends know to call or text me first. It's also better for guitar practice or recording stuff

I don't think I could live alone. I need at least somebody to talk to and socialize or I'll go postal.

My roommate practically never leaves his room. So I pretty much live alone.

It's not bad, when I get a better job I'll definitely get a nicer single bedroom. I'm very much a lone wolf also.

I did for a bit between roommates. I preferred it, other people my age apparently are slobs. Except for one girl roommate I had who was pretty clean, we also walked around in our underwear and she had the tightest little butt. Lordd have mercy.

Never lived alone and probably never will cause I moved straight from home to Finland with my fiancée (girlfriend at the time)

I reckon it'd be koo' though. Just have friends over often..ish and it'd be ok

I live in an apartment with a roommate. It's pretty cool until your roommate lies about being able to pay rent and you have to cough up all the money
#32
I've lived with roommates for about 5 years now. Right now we're in this awesome townhouse which is awesome and I don't want to leave it. However, I feel like I'm getting more and more anal as I grow older so sometimes the smallest things my roommates do get on my nerves. They are also my best friends so it can be straining to our friendship at times, and my one roommate I literally never see so we're not as good as friends anymore. They both have girlfriends too who are over pretty often.

Soooo, even though the house is awesome, I'm really considering moving out. But I also feel like I'd be stupid for giving the house away, I will never get as good a deal as this. Plus it would be tough financially to live on my own, although I think I could pull it off w/out going broke. And I also still don't know if I'd become lonely. Although, I think it's a sign I should live alone when I'm happy that both roommates are gone for extended periods of time. Sooo, as you can see I have a hard decision once time to renew the lease comes.

I used to. It has it's nice moments, but you better have some kind of active social life. I lost my job, had no friends, and had an 8 week break from class once in the middle of the winter.

I basically went crazy. It was pretty bad. Eventually I just shut off everything, locked the doors, and went home for the last couple of weeks before class started again.

Also, it's really easy to gain a lot of weight when you live by yourself and have nothing to do.
#34
I'm done with living with room mates...and also don't want to pay rent which does absolutely nothing to add equity. I'm saving up for a house or condo. No one else is invited except maybe if you're hot and have bewbs

...modes and scales are still useless.

Living with friends can be really straining for your friendship, especially if you have different ideas of what is and isn't okay in terms of cleanliness and noise and stuff.

I lived with one of my best mates for a year and we still got along but we often got annoyed with each. I'd get annoyed that he wouldn't dust stuff like the top of the cistern or hoover the carpets and stairs, and that was all on me. And nothing is as frustrating as when your housemates sit around in the ******* on their laptops and don't lift a finger or offer to help when you're cleaning the *******.

Also I had a dodgy door so I had to slam it to get it shut so he got really peeved at me for that.

I've lived alone since I was 20, it is the best....especially if you get a good place in a good neighbourhood.

Basically get to do what you want, when you want.....it's great
Come back if you want to
And remember who you are
‘Cause there's nothing here for you my dear
And everything must pass

there are only a very few select people i could live with on a day-to-day basis

if i could pay for it, i would, with all certainty, buy/rent my own small house

i wish i lived alone. hopefully after college i'll be able to afford my own place and just start doing my shit.

no one to boss me around or trouble me. I don't even want roomates again. They suck in the long run.

sure, might get a lonely, but im introverted so i enjoy it on my own most of the time anyways.
