Hello All,

I see many good sounding bass covers on youtube and in a lot of them there doesnt appear to be an interface involved (As far as i can see). I was wondering if there was a way to record good bass covers for youtube without all the expensive gear. Like, should i buy a digital camera and record myself with an amp or is there a better way?

Some of the better camera's these days do a great job.

Too many variables though so I'm pasting this in from the Resource sticky

Hey mate,
You could try buying a cheap usb audio interface and then play through a bass amp simulator software. There are loads available on net for free the resulting quality is decent and it would cost you less than a digital camera.

Yea- even if you arent seriously into recording, its worth having at least a cheap interface. Spend at least 100-200 bucks. Its worth it. And just use your webcam or smart phone to video yourself while you play. Then sync the two up in a movie editing program

This seems like exactly the kind of thing i need! Does it sound good with a bass guitar. I forgot to mention that i am trying to make covers of me Playing AND Singing, so an interface would be a bit of a hassle. The Zoom camera though seems like a great deal. I just need to find a recording of it with a bass.

I have a Line 6 UX1 as well, but the process of creating a cover video with vocals is SOOOOO confusing. And there is a bit of lag in my UX1. It may be defective.

I've got a Q2HD, it's very good. Will do a full band mix just fine, including the bass and drums. Just make sure you get a real one, there are knockoffs out there - but they look different. Make sure you get what you pay for, take a look at a real one on the Zoom site before you make the purchase.
