Hello, I'm looking into getting a solid state amp

Budget/ under and or around $500
Genres/ 70's-90's punk rock, surf rock
New or Used/ prefer new but open to used
Home or Gig/ both
Closest City/ far far far away from any shops so propably going to order online. Been watching cragslist for a few months so far nothings caught my eye
Current Gear/ zoom3 through headphones, MiM SSH stratocaster.

Looking at the fender mustange v2 II /III..... or Orange crush pro cr60c. Taking any suggestions into account as well. Thanks for your time.

You see I'm thousands of miles away from any store to help me maintain a tube amp and I'm not sure if i can take on that task myself. I just want to play it safe and get a solid state amp.

Nah, it's simple, man. To make it easier, get one that doesn't need to be rebiased and it's as easy as changing a light globe when a tube does go. You don't have to do it very often anyway. Buy tubes off the net, no need to go anywhere.
What are you calling punk rock? If you mean old school 70's type punk, I'd look for a used vox AC30.
Forget, the Crush and the Mustang, they're rubbish. Well, the Mustang's an ok practice amp. I'll hoist in 311 for you and ask him to run his lookup doover. He'll want to know what that nearest city actually is. But go used tube, you'll be far, far happier.

Yeah tubes are not as difficult as you may think. Any good electronic/TV repair guy can typically work on a tube amp.

Give us closest city and we can deff find you something

City/ Kailua Kona

Oh your in Hawaii, then it will deff be more expensive there because your in the middle of the Pacific

Check your local Craigslist and any Guitar shops you can. www.guitarcenter.com/usedgear has a great selection, it is all gonna come from the mainland for the most part, but they have extremely reasonable shipping rates and you can buy an extended warranty on used gear for a small price. they also give you a 30 day return policy on any used gear.

I guess high prices are what you deal with when you live in a virtual paradise

If you get your tone from the Zoom maybe a powered wedge would work for you. Solid state, good quality sound from a whisper to 126db. Something like this maybe:

One of my friends lived in Maui for 20 yrs and used a powered wedge for his Chapman Stick.

Don't limit yourself to just SS amps because you're in a more remote location. Maintenance isn't really that hard, and if a tube goes you just need to wait a week or so for new ones to be delivered.

Mustang III v2 is alot easier to tweek than the 1 or II. It has a LCD that gives you access to parameters you need the fuse software to access on the others. Greatly versatile and amazing sounding amp if your going SS.

The Orange crush is ok if you like that sound but not in the same ball park as the Mustang III.

Oh Bullshit, I've family that has lived there for many, many years. It's not nearly as hard to get things inter-island (or even from the mainland) as you seem to be making it.

And as noted, your maintenance worries regarding tube amps are unfounded.

Buy a decent tube amp, buy a set of spare tubes, quit worrying.

i'd much rather try to fix a tube amp vs SS. Unless you're an electronics major... get a tube amp.
500 bucks can get you a used Blues Jr, or AC15.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky Purple Strings
Vox AC15

Very true, especially it is a true tube amp, the circuits are much simpler.
