I am a fairly accomplished player who has been playing for the better part of 35 years. I hold a pick properly but sometimes on downstrokes the nail on my index finger brushes the strings before the pick hits them. Only when strumming and not while picking.

I am sure this habit developed when I was just young and learning and was likely slopinesss. I've never corrected it because I am not sure if it really impacts my playing.

What are your thoughts?
If you have never checked out the Wood Brothers. Do yourself a favor and look them up. Best. Band. Ever.

i also have this problem. obviously it's something that could be fixed (because you know you're doing something you didn't mean to do), but it doesn't tend to be a very audible mistake, so it doesn't bother me so much. i have worse habits to fix!
