Hey guys this is just a little call for help from those with a bit more sound savvy knowledge
First off I'll run through what I'm using -

Fender Superchamp XD Tube Amp
Mexican Telecaster
Boss Chorus, Compressor Sustainer
Cry Baby Wah
Big Muff Pi Tone Wicker

My main issue is that I can't find that OD I am after,
It always comes through too muddy or with sharp high ends
The tubes are about a year old Electro Harmonix ones.
So I'm not too sure if that's the case and I am knowledgable of the tone knobs
To help with this but I'm always just a bit off what I really want.

Any help or chat would be great
Thanks

There are millions of OD's. The cheapest one would be the Digitech Bad Monkey. Or you could get something like an Ibanez Tubescreamer or a Maxon one. The first Japanese tubescreamers were actually made by Maxon for Ibanez before Ibanez moved the prosuction to China.

I have a SCXD and using OD pedals always needs to be done on the clean chnl. If you are on the voice chnl, dial in an OD tone you like from the choices. I really like voice 8 (Marshal Plexi) with gain on 8 and tone to taste. Voice 3 (tweed bassman) is also pretty good. I use an OCD pedal in the clean chnl with drive at 12 o'clock and tone at 10 o'clock for a sweet "blues on the edge" tone.

Hope this helps some. It really depends on what tone you are going for.
"Your sound is in your hands as much as anything. It's the way you pick, and the way you hold the guitar, more than it is the amp or the guitar you use." -- Stevie Ray Vaughan

"Anybody can play. The note is only 20 percent. The attitude of the motherfucker who plays it is 80 percent." -- Miles Davis

I have a vintage Maxon built Ibanez TS-9 it rules!

To get that sound from a modern one I'd go with the Maxon!

"A well-wound coil is a well-wound coil regardless if it's wound with professional equipment, or if somebody's great-grandmother winds it to an old French recipe with Napoleon's modified coffee grinder and chops off the wire after a mile with an antique guillotine!"
