There is something I like in all 3 amps I use but nothing I can't live without in any.
I'm mainly a metal player 80/90's Ozzy/Machine head etc dabble on blues scales but I'm just wanting a great all around amp instead of 3 good amps. I can add a 1000 usd plus my amps to my budget.

So which amp you want to sell?
The Singl Rec, the XXX and the RM?
If so, then something like a Mark V would be great.

You definitely need to audition some of the following: Rhodes Colossus H100, ENGL SE E670, CAA OD100SE or PT100, Diezel Herbert, Bogner Ecstasy 101B 20th Ann, MB Road King II (if you like access to the Recto sound), Soldano Hotrod 100+, H&K TriAmp MK II.

i second the mark V.

though why not just get three custom modules for the rm?

I second the RM module. Or sell the XXX and the single rec and save some money.

By the time I load the RM proper I'd be in at 1500 or close add the 1000 I have saved allready to that and I'm in the great amp ball park.

Oh ok.
The Mark v or the SLO would be your best bet for 80's metal. The Mark would be more versatile.
Or possibly some ENGL's, but I don't really know much about them.
EDIT:God, I've been stupid. For 80's metal a JCM800 with a boost would be great.

But the RM can be changed again later if your tastes change. Load it with a JF SL-OD100, Salvation Mash-all+ and a Mash-oldano and you'd be set to go. $1230 + postage, less if you have donor modules.

^ Very true and I've went over this a million times in my head and truthfully I spend more time tweaking tubes and modules on it than I do playing and I'd rather just have a great amp and just adapt to its sound feel etc and work more at honing my playing skills. If that makes sense.

Buy good modules and you won't need to tweak shit. Make sure they have decent tubes in 'em and you're done. You're going to have to do that to any amp you buy.

But a Module isn't like the real thing. These Randalls are a miracle for people who want a lot of versatility. But if TS wants to play only 80's metal, there's no such thing as the real deal.

Oh, I must have read the Original post wrong. My bad. the dudes from Machine Head use 6505's, which are SLO clones. While Iommi used Laney. Hmm, a Mark V would probably cover all of that. Or keep the Randall and sell the two other amps. The money you would get from them you could invest in a nice car, or a trip to Florida or some shit.

And about that Crate, you want 100usd for it?

Try an Engl Retro Tube 100. It doesn't get a lot of reviews around here, but it's an awesome amp. I think the term "Retro" steers a lot of people away. Make no mistake it will do anything from light crunch all the way to modern, tight brootz. Cleans are incredible too. I would definitely prefer it to a Mark V and many other 'versatile' high gain amps.

FWIW, I compared it to a Powerball II and liked it a lot more, even for extreme metal.
