hey, my cousin will give me his marshall rack preamp, and I'm interested in getting a rocktron xpression rack multi fx.. I'm gonna use it for concerts so..

as the xpression has a cabinet simulator, can I get a good sound by going
guitar -> pre amp -> xpression with cab simulator -> PA ?

or if I'm not allowed to use the PA :P can I get a good sound by going:
guitar -> pre amp -> xpression without cab simulator -> amp fx loop ?

I wonder if this could be good for home recording.. I own a m-audio fast track pro.. can I get a good sound by going:
guitar -> preamp -> xpression with cab simulator on -> fast track pro -> pc ?

I'm also thinking about buying a powered monitor for home use..
like guitar -> preamp -> xpression with cab simulator on -> powered monitor
what you think?

Thanks in advance

Clue: amplifiers amplify so don't turn it on if you need quiet.

The only way to know for sure is to try them all out. I prefer conventional stuff like micing amps and individual pedals myself. But the rack effects you have seem to be solid, so try them out. c:

I haven't heard the Rocktron Xpression unit, and I see that it requires MIDI controlling. Anything against a multi-fx board like the POD HD500X?
