I'm 41 thinking about taking up the guitar so eventually I can play some cool classic rock. My question is I recently saw a beautiful Epiphone ES-335 Pro Half hollow guitar I fell in love with. Is this a decent beginner guitar?

No idea, but thought I'd jump in here to say that I too am 41 and just about to start.

Are we having mid-life crises?

probably, but at least you aren't spending $17 000 on a Harley Davidson.

I'm 49 and started playing last year. I've been learning with Rocksmith 2014 on PC. It's a blast!! I jumped right in and bought a 2014 Fender Exotic Quilt Strat Select $$$. I just bought another guitar this week. ( PSR Zach Myers SE) it is a beautiful guitar. Just make sure it feels good in you hands. The neck could be too fat, which could make it harder to play if you have small hands. Rock On !!
