Looking for a single-humbucker, and I'm having difficulty finding something in my price range. Anyone know any good models?

Why only a single? If you get a double, it will be more versatile if/when you need it and you don't have to use the other one. Get something like a Les Paul, and you can set the volume of the pickup you aren't using to zero & have it as a kill switch.

Well, one argument would be that you have more sustain with only one humbucker.

Check out the BC Rich Gunslinger, should be like 500 bucks or something.

Or go cheaper and get a Carvin DC125 and mod the hell out of it for the rest of the money.
