I'm looking for a guitar to buy at around £200 ($300), to change pickups and perhaps other things such as hardware. I want something with a thinner neck and humbuckers (ill probably change pickups, but as long as it can take humbuckers). im not too fussed at body shapes, as long as its something you can play metal on (so not like an epiphone dot). im thinking super strat or this les paul (http://www.mannsmusic.co.uk/product/1000023/lp80r_wht/paragon-lp80-lp-style-electric-guitar---white.html), has anyone got any ideas?

How 'bout a Jackson? Maybe something like a JS32. Or a Xavier Guitar. Shipping to the UK on a Xavier might be a little crazy though; although, if your budget is $300 the price of the guitar plus shipping should still be within your budget.

I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

Lots of solid workhorse guitars in your price range. Here are a few I found browsing Thomann:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/cort_kx5_wh.htm

http://www.thomann.de/gb/jackson_js32tq_dinky_tbk.htm

http://www.thomann.de/gb/epiphone_les_paul_studio_deluxe_eb.htm

Buying blind, I would go for the Cort or the Ibanez personally. The Cort probably has better hardware though, just judging by their general place in the market. They pretty much fly under the radar with great quality, like Yamaha.

+1 on Agile LP. Look around rondomusic.com for something you like. I own a 7 string Interceptor model from them and absolutely love it. Will be grabbing more from them in the future for sure.

My quick browse didn't turn up any good 6 string superstrats, but I could have missed it.

I don't think xaviere or rondo are really an option (or at least a sensible option) if you're in the UK. Postage and VAT/customs will up the price enough that what was (from what I hear) pretty good value in the USA will be mediocre value in the UK- and without the safety net you have from buying locally (or even buying from thomann) i.e. it might be a false economy to send the thing back if it's faulty.
