Ive been offered a trade for my 2008 gibson sg special faded for a 2013 gibson LPJ. Seems like a decent swap but be being a brand new guitar player i don't want to be regretting this trade in the future.
I love the feel of both.
The look of the LPJ is a little nicer IMO.
Im just looking for advice from experienced players. Is there something I'm not considering?
Thanks for any info

They are pretty much the same guitar but the LPJ has ugly hardware. I think the LPJ is also 24 frets

It's mostly down to pickups really. SG has two humbuckers and the LPJ has a single P90. Which suits you is a matter of taste. Personally, I'd take the LPJ because I like P90's - but that's just me.

The LPJ i played had 2 humbuckers 490r and 490t i think. It said lpj just above the neck on the headstock.
They sounded almost identical to me. Ive been playing for a few months now.
Im most likely going to of the trade. I love the 50s neck (both have it) but the trap inlays are nice on the lpj vs the dots on the sg special.

Cath the LPJ is the new SG LPJ that replaced the SG special faded, not the LP Jr

Ah, fair enough. I thought he meant the LP Jnr.

Despite the (understandable) misunderstanding of the Gibson models, this part of your post is still true.
