Wanting to finish up a strat build I refinished and sealed with tru oil. How should I go about polishing out defects like shirt fuzz and minor scratches etc?

You can use Micro Mesh for that, though I wouldn't start out on the bottom 1500, start at around 3200 or 2400 if you have some serious flaws. Some of the milder buffing compounds would also work, but I prefer Micro Mesh.

The important bit is giving it time to fully cure before polishing, this does not mean touch dry like it is in a few hours, but fully hardened and this takes around 2 weeks if I remember correctly, though the longer the better.

Thanks man yeah I'm leaving it go for about a month as I put about 50+ coats on after dyeing it black and sanding it back a bit. For alder being a tight grained wood it turned out beautifully now just need to polish and wire up pick guard while it cures more. Thanks and your builds rock man.
