My name is David Johnson and I study product design at Teesside university, I am currently in my 3rd year and I am doing my final project. My final project is to design a guitar with inbuilt recording facilities. The following questionnaire will help me to deduce the price this guitar should sell for as well as extra features it could be given.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. If you have any queries about this questionnaire, or any general comments, don't hesitate to contact me at DavidCarlJohnson@hotmail.com

Thank you for you time.

So, it's basically useless if I want to record with one of the guitars I already own?

Wow you guys, who hurt you?

Nobody. What we're saying is called constructive criticism.

Violets are blue

No one did. He has a job to do he expects us to do it for him pro bono. Requests like that are unreasonable so he has thus paved the way to snappy comebacks. But if he is smart he can get something useful out of them too. He just has to think outside the box a bit.

Its a great idea. Its not like this actually exists or anything.

oh wait

I always thought this was a bone-head idea -- as soon as someone rolls a 4x12 cabinet over the cable portion of this thing, your expensive toy is dead (or at least dead until you can figure out how to get it re-cabled). First thing I'd do is take it apart and determine how to put the controls on the control cavity cover and the bitty guts into the control cavity.

Line 6 had (has?) something called the Backtrack that will do mostly the same thing, except that you can plug a cable into it. Including the cable that replaced the one that got run over by the 4x12. http://line6.com/backtrack/

As I said in my reply to the questionnaire (which is flawed by the way): any phone bought in the past 5 years can already record well enough to remember ideas that you come up with in the middle of the night. Nothing you can fit in to the body of a guitar is going to be any better than that and it's going to be a hell of a lot more expensive, and less general purpose than someone upgrading their phone.

In some ways it's an all right idea... but I don't think it's realistically marketable. There's no niche in the market that it's going to fill really.
