Hey guys, I got a few 6 strings now, and i wanna get a 7, im really into Keith Merrow and Ola Englund. I record at home quite often and I wanna to put out some more stuff in the style of them. Budget is 2000, Fixed bridge would be nice but its not a must. i use a Rhodes Gemini, I prefer passives but seymour duncan blackouts are really the only actives im into, im really open to anything, Thanks. Im in St. Louis.

Abso-****in-lutely.

Pretty much exactly what you need, OP. That's gonna be my first 7, soon as I have the money.

KM-7 is for you.
I'm going to get a 7 string as well but it's going to be a hellraiser hybrid with the floyd rose.
I'd go for the KM if they sold it with a FR, but that's not Keith Merrow's preference.
I also am not too keen on signature guitars, but that's just me

Agile. Custom-made if necessary. But that should leave plenty of money for something else.

Rondo isn't taking custom orders until summer. And for that sort of budget he'd be better off shooting for the higher quality. Agiles are good but only up to a certain point.

Yeah, but they have some in-stock. At what point are the Agiles no good anymore? It's not like the Schecter is in a different league.

Ive looked at agile, I cant seem to find something that I like, and im not a big schecter fan, though the KM-7 is pretty badass, im thinking of going a bit higher end though.

In many ways, Schecter is in a different league. They're all inspected and setup here in the US. Agile isn't. You can get lemons from both. One has a much higher chance of being ****ed on delivery than the other. I wouldn't spend $1000 on an Agile...

A bit higher end? Prestige.

There's really not a whole lot out there that is a bit higher end without being hundreds or thousands more. You start getting into Carvin semi-customs and eventually full-on customs with 3 year waiting periods.

I had an agile once, it was pretty bad considering it was $800, but oh well. Im liking the prestiges, I can go higher than $2000 if I need to, its a loose budget.

How loose?

For custom or something a little more unique, there are companies like Skervesen, Daemoness, Mayones. Maybe Strandberg. I can't give you an estimate on what they would cost you...

If you've got a $2000+ budget, and looking at custom jobs, seriously look into a custom Schecter. Their USA custom shop is a whole separate entity from the Diamond Series imports, and the guitars are only available through certain dealers. Based on what I've heard, from reviews and a couple people I know who have USA Schecters, they're apparently super sweet, and regularly compared to other more well known custom brands that cost even more.
