i don't have a job atm so i have had to ask people i know for work

so i once shoveled literal tons of horse poop from a shed to a trailer (and raked some leaves) for 65$ which paid for my ehx soul food

any other stories?

okay maybe not ton(s) as in 4k, 6k, etc. but quite a lot

Holy ****, TS, how did you think this thread was a good idea?
because not everyone is able to finance their gear from their normal means of financial stability

Sold a lot of pedals, to buy a guitar that a friend of mine wanted, So i could trade it for a guitar that he had that i wanted.. Makes sense

I worked for other people occasionally, but a lot of the jobs I've had were unpaid commissions for my parents. When I had my eyes on a piece of gear, they would help me pay for the gear as compensation. That's how I've been able to afford the vast majority of it.

What if you went on an epic quest for gear?

I did, once. I braved many perilous miles of forest, and battled many foes - both the living and the dead - before confronting the evil necromancer, To-Me Ku-Pa, and just like that, I had a new tuner.

Yeah... that's called chores my friend.

Well what I've done in the last 6 months is to help rebuild the roof and the ceiling of the house, making the loft a more usable storage space by designing and helping to install a new joist structure to support a new floor, and helping to fully re-insulate the loft. All for the sake of them doing me the favour of helping me buy the gear I want.

I wouldn't consider that a chore, it isn't exactly a routine task.

I hired a guy to shovel a ton of poo once. I gave him $65 and I charged the home-owner $200.
